Proud Sponsors in
Hong Kong ...

Credit Suisse Privilege has been a loyal sponsor of squash in Hong Kong. We asked Mr Dallas Reid, the Managing Director, about his company's involvement ...

Q: The World Open 2005 features a pool of world top class players. As tournament's title sponsor, what is your expectation of the tournament, in terms of promoting Hong Kong's cosmopolitan image and the local squash standard?

As the first combined Men & Women 's World Open Championship, this event can only add significantly to Hong Kong's increasing reputation as a leading world venue for international sports events.

Regarding impact on local squash, this event both gives top local players invaluable opportunities to compete for World ranking points, and to get experience in playing at the very highest level. The strong media coverage will also boost awareness of squash in Hong Kong which should also encourage more youngsters to take up the sport, and encourage our existing elite juniors.

Q: Your company has been giving long-term support to squash development, which includes staging international events in recent years. What are the reasons that contribute to such a commitment?

Our company's policy is to channel our advertising budget into directions which not only promote our company's image, but can also make a positive contribution to the community. We believe squash is an ideal sport for Hong Kong, and so have been supporting the efforts of HK Squash for many years.

Q: As Hong Kong will host the 5th East Asian Games in 2009, the Organizing Committee might add squash as a new event, does it affect your future sponsorship planning?

We are delighted that HK will be hosting the 5th East Asian Games, and will certainly be looking for opportunities to support the event through our connection with squash, or possibly other sports.

Q: Staging the tournament beside the Victoria Harbour is a wonderful idea indeed. What made you and the organizers have such an idea, and what other possible locations would be considered in the future years?

The exciting location which we fully support, is an idea from HK Squash who have done a tremendous job of developing the sport in Hong Kong over many years. BecAuse of the flexibility in setting up transparent courts anywhere, various exotic locations have been used elsewhere in the world, e.g. next to the Pyramids in Cairo, Egypt.

We are lucky in Hong Kong to have one of the most beautiful backdrops anywhere in the world, and this is a great opportunity to show it off around the world. We have discussed other locations such as the top of the Peak and would be supportive of any interesting sites for the event which HK Squash proposes.
